Deutschlandticket
The Deutschlandticket: hop on and off wherever you want
If you use the FlexBenefits Budget for the Deutschlandticket, it becomes particularly attractive to leave your car at home from time to time. The monthly allowance of EUR 30 significantly reduces your own contribution. For apprentices and trainees (“dual Studierende”), the costs are covered in full.
TRAVELLING WITH THE DEUTSCHLANDTICKET
With a subscription to the Deutschlandticket, you have unlimited travel on public transport – throughout Germany and as often as you like. The ticket is available as a digital subscription and can be cancelled monthly.
What applies?
Apprentices/Trainees (“Dual Studierende”)
For apprentices /trainees (“Dual Studierende”), the cost of the Deutschlandticket of EUR 49 is covered in full. The allowance also applies to the Deutschlandticket for students, the Hesse student ticket and the Deutschlandticket Jugend Baden-Württemberg.
All other employees
For all other employees, there is an allowance of EUR 30 per month for the Deutschlandticket. Costs for other tickets cannot be subsidized.
How it works
Buy your Deutschlandticket
You buy the Deutschlandticket yourself. This is possible via the apps or sales outlets of the regional transport companies or Deutsche Bahn. Because it is a subscription model, the ticket is automatically renewed if it is not canceled.
Submit an application
To apply for the allowance, you must submit an application. You must also submit a proof of purchase. The application needs to be submitted by the 20th of the previous month so that the allowance can be paid out in the following month (e.g. by 20.08 for a payment in October).
Receiving the allowance
The allowance is paid out with the monthly payroll, at the earliest from the date of validity of the ticket and for a maximum of three months retrospectively. Payment ends automatically after 12 months if no new application is received.
Tax and social security
No taxes or social security contributions are due on the payment of the allowance, but no possible deduction of income-related expenses can be claimed in the income tax return in the amount of the subsidy. If you have any questions, please contact a tax consultant or an income tax assistance association.
Frequently asked questions
I already have a Deutschlandticket. Can I use the FlexBenefits Budget for this?
Payment of the subsidy is possible from 01.09.2024 (max. three months retroactively).
Can the allowance also be used for other tickets?
The allowance can only be used for the Deutschlandticket and not for the BahnCard or for other season tickets (except the Deutschlandticket for students, the Deutschlandticket Jugend Baden-Württemberg and the Schülerticket Hessen for apprentices /trainees (“Dual Studierende”).
What happens during periods without continued remuneration?
Employees without ongoing remuneration (e.g. during parental leave) are not entitled to the FlexBenefits Budget and therefore do not receive an allowance. In the event of illness, the allowance will continue to be paid for up to 12 months. A new application is only possible when you receive a regular salary again.
How long is the allowance paid for?
The payment ends automatically after 12 months if no new application is received. It also ends if you choose a different benefit, are no longer entitled to the FlexBenefits Budget or if you cancel the Deutschlandticket (you must inform Fresenius of this yourself).
